Spirit Lake, Kootenai County, Idaho

Spirit Lake (1477 acres) Located on State Highway 41, this Lake is just 10 miles north of Rathdrum and within an easy driving distance of both Coeur d'Alene and Spokane. One of North Idaho's smaller lakes, it is home to nothing short of spectacular lakefront views with the majestic Selkirk Mountains to the west and north, Spokane Mountain to the West. Spirit Lake has 12 miles of shoreline, is 4.5 miles long and one mile across. 100 feet at its deepest, it is the highest of all small lakes in the Inland Empire with an elevation of 2,400 feet. The lake is home to two Islands, the largest one is on the west end of the lake and the smaller Island (only an Island during high water) is on the Northeast portion of the lake. Both Islands are private. This is an ideal lake for all types of water sports. Its a great sailing lake with nice winds coming off of the mountains. Sorry to say it would be difficult to get a deep draft boat into this lake due to the lack of depth at the boat launches on this lake. The town of Spirit Lake has a city park with public beach and good boat ramp and dock. There are full-service, beautiful resorts on the lake.

Directions: To access from either Spokane WA. or from Coeur d’Alene ID. You needto go to Rathdrum Idaho and from there head north on Hwy 41, follow signs to public access/sportsman access. Boat Launches

Maiden Rock Launch
This is a good access point into the lake however there is very limited parking that requires one to walk some distance after launching ones boat. The launch pad is short and into shallow water so is not suitable for large boats with deep drafts. There is no dock, restroom, or running water.

Main Street Launch
This  launch site has a very large parking area with a comparably small double launch site. So during the busy time of the boating season it can be quite congested. However those who are kayaking can launch from the fairly large beach area at this site. Kayakers can of course paddle the length of the lake or a short distance from the launch on the right one can pass under a small bridge and enter a beautiful marsh area. The launch pads are about the length of the two docks at this site. Additional features include again a large beach and swimming area, picnic area, restrooms, kayak and paddle board rental facility, and there is running water.

Bronze Launch
This launch is primarily for the local home owners and no parking is available at the site. However if you have kayak(s) one could park along the road before turning into the launch area. If you travel to the end of the paved road there is an open gravel area to park. This launch is across the lake from the largest Island (private Island) on the lake and is a beautiful paddle trip. Near the Island is a marsh area with abundance water foul depending on the time of the year. The launch is gravel, there is one dock, no swimming is allow, there is no restrooms or running water.
