Medical Lake, Spokane County, Washington

Small Boats, No Motors Allowed
Medical Lake Waterfront Park - nice place to launch a sail yak or kayak from
Medical Lake (149 acres)... I really like this little lake and take the opportunity sail on when I can. You can access this lake from the South end via primitive boat launches, there is also a small park on the North end with no boat launch but you could launch a kayak from this park. My daughter and I sailed on this lake from one end to the other and really enjoyed it. There is a small Island on it named M & M Island – (more like a rock with some dirt on it) and it’s more than deep enough for dinghies with dagger boards. There is also a nice Water Front Park (http://www.medical-lake.org/) on the south west side with swim area and hiking trails. (I was surprised to see how much was available around a six acre lake.) The city of Medical Lake is on the East shore which also has a nice park. I met a couple that own a house on Medical lake with a Hobie 16 on the beach which indicated they sail the lake all the time and have great fun with winds that are very consistent throughout the year. The interesting thing about this lake is that it has a lot of trees around it and a big hill to the west but this hill and trees seem to not block the wind too much. Overall a nice lake to boat on and great to swim in, and I might add; it’s a NO-motor lake. Directions & Maps: City & Park info http://www.medical-lake.org/
